Maximising Laylatul Qadr: What to Do in the Last 10 Nights

Ramadan is full of blessings, but the last 10 nights are the most powerful. Among them is Laylatul Qadr (The Night of Decree), a night better than 1,000 months (Surah Al-Qadr 97:3). That means worship on this single night equals over 83 years of devotion!

But here’s the catch: We don’t know exactly which night it is. The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Seek Laylatul Qadr in the last ten nights of Ramadan, in the odd nights.” (Bukhari 2017)

So, how can we make the most of these precious nights? Here’s your guide:

1. Increase Your Worship & Ibadah

🌟 What to focus on?
Prayers & Tahajjud: Pray extra Nafl (voluntary) prayers and wake up for Tahajjud. Even two extra raka’at can bring huge rewards.
Quran Recitation: Read and reflect on the Quran—this is the month of the Quran’s revelation!
Dhikr & Istighfar: Keep your tongue busy with SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illa Allah and seeking forgiveness.

📌 Pro Tip: Pray with sincerity, even if it’s a short prayer. Allah values the quality of worship, not just the quantity.

2. The Best Dua for Laylatul Qadr

🌟 Dua to recite:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ العَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘anni

💬 Meaning: “O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness, so forgive me.” (Tirmidhi 3513)

Why is this dua so powerful? Because it directly asks Allah for forgiveness, the key to entering Jannah.

📌 Pro Tip: Repeat this dua throughout the night, especially in sujood.

3. Give Charity & Sadaqah

💡 The rewards for charity on Laylatul Qadr are multiplied thousands of times! Even a small act of kindness can earn you massive rewards.

Donate to a cause daily: If you give just $1 every odd night, and Laylatul Qadr is one of those nights, it’s as if you’ve given for over 83 years!
Feed the hungry: The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever gives food for a fasting person to break his fast, he will have a reward like theirs.” (Tirmidhi 807)

📌 Pro Tip: Automate donations for the last 10 nights through online charity platforms so you don’t miss Laylatul Qadr.

4. Repent & Seek Forgiveness Sincerely

Ramadan is the month of mercy, and Laylatul Qadr is the perfect time to ask Allah to wipe away our sins. The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Whoever stands (in prayer) on Laylatul Qadr with faith and hoping for reward, his past sins will be forgiven.” (Bukhari 1901)

Make a list of your past mistakes and sincerely ask Allah for forgiveness.
Forgive others too—don’t hold grudges. When you forgive, Allah forgives you.

📌 Pro Tip: Keep your heart clean—Laylatul Qadr is about renewal and spiritual transformation.

Final Thought: Don’t Let This Night Slip Away

Imagine if this is your last Ramadan—how would you spend these nights?

Laylatul Qadr is the most valuable night of the year. Give it your best effort with prayers, duas, charity, and repentance. Even a single extra prostration or heartfelt dua could be your ticket to Jannah!

May Allah allow us to witness Laylatul Qadr and accept our worship. Ameen!
